Benjamin Slack's Journal

Here is a set of notes by engineer Lt. Benjamin Slack (Practioner–Engineer Slack) discussing the route from Montreal to Fort Stanwix which affords a great deal of insight into scouting as it was really practiced. In addition, it reinforces the idea that tarps were mostly oilskin, even in the Army.
